Watercoloured Rose

When the new Occasions Catalogue was released I found it very difficult to decide which items to purchase because there are just so many fabulous products!  Sometimes when I flip through I worry that maybe I own too many as I’ll flip a page and say, I have it, flip to the next page… I have it and so on…..LOL  Stampin’ Up! really does provide us with complete product lines that allow us the opportunity to create little masterpieces without struggling to draw the designs.

I don’t often watercolour but have been stopping more often lately to try my hand at it.  I saw a beautiful card on Pinterest and decided to give it a whirl.  I modified it just a smidge to suit my needs and the supplies I have on hand.  I love the end result and I hope those who sign up for the Rose Wonder class later this month will too!

The ink colours used are Calypso Coral, Watermelon Wonder, and Rose Red for the flower and Old Olive for the leaves. First though I stamped the image lightly in Smoky Slate ink.  The sentiment was stamped in Archival Black ink.

The watercolour paper really allows you to colour your image well and in several layers.  You do need to allow it time to dry between each colour application.  Although my watercolouring may not be perfect, I am very happy with the results!

The watercolour paper was layered on Calypso Coral cardstock and to make the card front more interesting I added small strips of Gold cardstock along the right and top of the card.

One thing I still realize as I create is that the more you play and try your hand at something, the better you get at it.  It seems silly to marvel at since we have always been taught that practice makes perfect and yet ….. well, it still like a new revelation each time I work harder at the things I try!

I’m looking forward to having you stop by again soon!
