Warm Wishes

While visiting several stores over the past week there is one thing I have noticed again and again.  Christmas supplies!  Yes they were already on display and for sale in August!  Since it apparently is not too early to be sharing thoughts and ideas for the holidays I figure I am safe in sharing a holiday themed card with you today.

Many of you (okay, really I hope all of you) have had the chance to browse the new Holiday Catalogue.  It is chock full of so many fantastic products that I would love to create great things with pretty much all of them!  Needless to say I did purchase  A LOT of supplies from it LOL  And with those supplies I have many great classes coming up over the next few months.  I just can’t wait to share them all with you.

Tips/ Tricks:

  • Scarf – For this card I wanted the scarf to properly wrap around the snowman’s neck.  This meant I had to add holes to get the ribbon through.  Unfortunately Stampin’ Up! does not currently have any decent size hole punches that will go into the card far enough to create these holes.  This meant that I had to pull out my old, trustworthy Cropadile.  If you do not own this tool, you can also use any old style tool that allows you to punch a hole using a hand punch and hammer combo.  Do you remember that style.  Otherwise cut a small slit very gently using an Exacto knife to be able to slide the ribbon through.
  • Sentiment – Stamp your sentiment on the bottom of the card before you run through the embossing folder.  This way you can control how much space you have for stamping your sentiment and ensuring your embossed image does not go over top of it.
  • Eye Appeal – Everyone has different tastes and their eye is drawn to objects and art in different ways.  Originally I planned to attach the snowman image layer to the card base so that the edge was parallel to the side of the card.  For me this was too organized, so I decided to place it on the card base on an angle.  I found this helped draw the eye to the snowman.
