Stormy Seas – #PPA314

ppa314The team at Pals Paper Arts had a sketch challenge for us this week and I shifted the intersection of the design slightly to the left and bottom of my card.  This sketch certainly made me think.

While I need to work on my cloud making abilities, I’m sure that most people can figure out the skies are stormy with rain starting to come down.  This card can be used for someone going through a rough patch.  All it needs is an uplifting message inside to go with the “hope like crazy” sentiment on the card front.

I have had the set Swirly Birds since it was released and yet this is the first time I stamped a sailboat with double sails (I did create one slightly different in this post HERE) and I love creating the water with the Swirls & Scribbles dies. I die cut from Vellum cardstock and then sponges with Pool Party ink.  Once I attached to my card front, I sponged again so that the vellum would stand out more against the sponged blue on the Whisper White cardstock.

I wanted the boat to stand out against the stormy skies, so the red and yellow sails added that extra pop I was looking for.  I hand cut the sails and gave them more dimension by raising them off the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I hope you liked my take on the PPA314 sketch challenge!
