Good morning and happy Wednesday! We are halfway to the weekend!
Last night I had my first Christmas Card Stamp A Stack of the year. Hopefully by starting this early, everyone will have enough cards to send out by Christmas. I know I usually send out between 100 – 130 cards each Christmas, so I need to be on top of the game to get them out on time! I enjoyed a fun evening with the ladies and I’m already looking forward to next months class.
Today’s card is winter themed and is a great fit for the Less Is More Challenge # 290 this week – SOMETHING EXOTIC.
To me, penguins are exotic. They are not something we would see in our environment/ climate but rather something we would have to travel to see them in their natural habitat.
I love the stamp set Snow Place because it has several cute images along with some fun sayings. In addition to that, you can purchase a matching die set, Snow Friends Framelits. I stamped the Penguin in Memento Black ink directly on my card front. I find using the Memento I need to get good ink coverage on my stamp and get it on my paper quickly before it dries! More so for images that have solid sections like the penguin image has.
The ‘ice’ was stamped in Pool Party ink using the long splash image from the stamp set Work of Art. I wanted to give some dimension to the card, so I stamped the santa hat on scrap Whisper White cardstock in Real Red ink and die cut using the Snow Friends Framelits.
So being Canadian and hockey being ‘our’ sport, I flipped my candy cane upside down to look like a hockey stick. I die cut this as well from the same set. Finally we have the sentiment…. and one thing that is really cool about photopolymer stamp sets is their flexibility. The sentiment is straight in the set but by curving the photopolymer when attaching it to your clear block, you can change its shape when stamping. I gave mine a slight arch and I think the “time to chill” works perfectly for a hockey playing penguin!
I had fun creating this cute card for the Something Exotic challenge and I hope you enjoyed it as well. Tell me: is it too early for you to be thinking Christmas?
