Sneak Peek – Daisy Delight

Happy Good Friday! I had the fantastic opportunity to pre-order some products that will be released in the new catalogue in June and it arrived in the other day.  Now if you're anything like me, you just can't wait to dive in and start playing! I was (still am) sick all week and didn't have much energy to do anything.  I hadn't spent much time with my husband since I was in bed a lot, so I wanted to enjoy time with  him and I wanted to stamp. This meant I had to compromise and select only so many products to work with while I sat at the tiny coffee table in our living room so I could be near him.  And so my cards today are relatively simple as I didn't use ANY Big Shot dies. I limited myself to the ribbon I had pre-ordered and a roll of burlap ribbon from my stamp room, collected a few additional ink pads, blender pen, etc and went to work with the new Daisy Delight stamp set and coordinating punch. The fruits of my labour are as follows: This was actually the last card I created for the evening. My intention was for my the colour palette on my designer series paper (DSP) to start with light at the top and gradually go darker towards the bottom.  Unfortunately I wasn't paying attention when I attached the crackle patterned DSP and so the light tones begin at the bottom. This designer series paper is from the upcoming Colour Theory Designer Series paper stack in the 2017-2018 Annual Stampin' Up! catalogue. Oh my word! Did you see those enamel dots?  They come in 5 colours, 3 sizes if I'm not mistaken and the colour throughout the sizes is gradual, so some are light, others darker and they are glittery!  Totally love them and can't wait to make my projects pop with these cute dots! The stamp is actually from another new set, Special Celebrations.  This set covers life's main occasions and includes the basic sentiment as well as verses that can be stamped inside the card.  I love the combination of print and script font on this sentiment and felt it was perfect for this card! Let's not forget about the daisy itself! Stamped on scrap white twice, punched out and layered together with some two-step stampin' for the flowers centre, the new 2017-2019 In Colour Berry Burst just pops! Next, lets check out another bold and bright card.  While the Daisy Delight stamp set does feature that beautiful large daisy, it also has a variety of flower stems and flowers that you can use.  These are two step stampin' images!  Love the effect of light and dark using the exact same ink pad. You may be able to tell that 1) I was in a hurry when photographing the cards 2) The lighting in my room was not great.  Sorry for the poor quality images - yeesh, I'm normally more careful.  I must have been awfully excited to share these! So I mentioned that these are two step stampin' and in this photo you can see that not only are the flowers two steps, but so are the stems. Check out that shorter stem with the tiny little flower buds showing! Super cute 🙂 Let's have a closer look at the embellishments for a minute. Check out that new 3/8" chevron ribbon! The chevrons blend in so you barely see them and what is that on top of the ribbon..... Oh yes! Some gorgeous new faceted gems! This one is a clear gem but so pretty!  Further down you'll see a card with a Gold Faceted Gem. I love the new Delightful Daisy Designer Series paper that coordinates so well with the stamp set.  I used a beautiful olive striped pattern piece for this card. On to our third card. This was actually the first card I made when I opened my products. The base is Pool Party with a layer of Calypso Coral matted below a piece of the Delightful Daisy DSP. I added some 5/8 Burlap Ribbon (held down with Tear and Tape) and added a strip of the 3/8" Crushed Curry Chevron Ribbon. I will warn you now that this ribbon does fray easy, so use baby fingers when touching the cut ends. I'm not sure if I am drawn to the saying itself, or if it's the font used for this sentiment but it is so crisp and clear, it is as though it conveys the message precisely! Okay, remember I mentioned earlier about the Gold Faceted Gem... HELLO, here it is!  What do you think?  It works perfectly as the centre of the daisy.  Oh, I should also say that these come in a few sizes as well!  I used the largest one for the centre of this flower. Did you like this card?  So bright and screaming "come on spring!" On to my final card I squeezed out while sitting at the coffee table! This one was inspired by one of the samples in the catalogue. The catalogue sample used strips of the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper but horizontally. I changed the rest of my design outside of that! Once again I double stamped and punched the daisy, this time stamping the centre with the new In Colour Tranquil Tide. To create the banner I stamped the tiny daisy's along the top and bottom of my Whisper White strip in Tranquil Tide and the "Thank You" was stamped in the new In Colour Powder Pink. I used my Paper Snips to cut the banner ends. Finally on to the ribbon again. Originally I had this card completed with out it but I wasn't completely happy with it. I showed it to my sweet husband and said "what do you think?" He loved it but I told him I wasn't thrilled, so he gave one of his go to replies - "add some ribbon"  (his other one is "add more bling") This resulted in me tying a small bow and attaching it to the corner of the banner using a glue dot.  Beautiful!  I am so happy with this final result!  Sometimes, and I do only mean sometimes LOL, does it help to listen to your spouse 🙂 I hope you had fun checking out these cards featuring the coordinating Daisy products!  Seeing them isn't as much fun as touching them and using them yourself!  Hopefully these will make it on your wish list of new catalogue items! Wishing you all a Happy Easter!
