Last Saturday I was supposed to be off to the races to compete in the ONDR (Ontario Nostalgic Drag Racing) competition at the St. Thomas Dragway. I’m blessed that I have a husband who supports me in my love of drag racing. Unfortunately my husbands accident injuries flared up and he was unable to get around the house on his own, so I spent the weekend caring for him. He knows I was disappointed but he is my number one priority. I made the most of it by crafting at the little table in the living room so I could watch over him.
Many changes have occurred to my race car since the pictures on my scrapbook page were taken last year. My car has a new stripe package which has completely changed its appearance and with a bigger horsepower engine, new tranny and more, my times are getting faster and faster. I’ll admit I have only been out twice now since putting in the new engine and I’m being safe by slowly getting used to its power. I always keep in mind that I have to respect the car.
I created this scrapbook page a few months ago when I got the set Swirly Birds from the new Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalogue. I loved how the large, fairly solid swirly image looked like a race slick (large rear racing tire).
The small swirly image was perfect for creating the lights on the “Christmas Tree” or staging lights. The spatter image was perfect for spraying rubber. I did use a stamp from Gorgeous Grunge to replicate tire marks for this page but most of them are from the Swirly Birds set. For the title, I used the Layered Letters Alphabet set.
I love how versatile this set is!
