Eclipse Anniversary Card

You may be thinking, that the eclipse occurred a few months ago, so why would I be creating a card for it now.  Well, I’m not.  Eclipse is a technique in card making where letters/numbers or an image is raised up in the imagery.

Our local jewelry store has celebrated 50 years in business, so what better way to help them celebrate than by creating an extra special card for them.  This was my very first attempt at an eclipse card and I must say that I am very pleased with the final result.

I used the Hostess exclusive stamp set Tranquil Tulips to stamp my card front.  Next I used the die set Large Numbers to cut out the letters 5 and 0. With this technique you must remember to keep the centre bits from the die cut.

I layered my die cut card front on a Basic Black matte.  Next I laid may die cut pieces in the openings and adhered only the centre piece of the ‘0’ directly to the black matte.  I then used Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to raise up the letters on the card front.

I stamped ‘Happy’ and ‘th’ in Memento Black ink and using the stamp set Labeler Alphabet I stamped out the words Ron Wilkin Jewellers.  I then hand cut these to the size I needed and popped up on my card front, using the Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals for this as well.

My card is completed by attaching to a Daffodil Delight card base.

Would you like me to create a video featuring this technique?  Leave me a comment to let me know.
