Oh my word! When I saw this weeks challenge at Less Is More was the colours blue and brown I was a tad concerned. They are not colours I would normally think to put together, at least not a darker brown.
However, when I saw the inspiration from the Design Team, I knew instantly that I would finally use the hummingbird image from the Picture Perfect stamp set!
I was going to create a one layer card but since I didn’t like the way I stamped the flower with the hummingbird on my original piece, I decided to cut the back half of my thick Whisper White cardstock to stamp on and use as a raised up layer on my card base.
I stamped my three rose images which are tripled stamped, each layer providing more detail than the one before but wasn’t quite happy with the bits of white space between them. This led me to sponge in and around the flowers. I really didn’t want to do this, as Sharon on the design team used this similar method on her card but I felt I didn’t have much choice if I didn’t want to scrap the card.
While both the hummingbird and rose are triple stamped, I only used two ink pad colours for each colour group. For the browns, I used Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip, stamping off my Chocolate Chip ink once first before stamping my second detailed image. For the blues, I used Tempting Turquoise and Pacific Point, stamping off my Tempting Turquoise ink once first before stamping my first detailed image. For the hummingbirds throat, I stamped off the Pacific Point ink once before stamping on my image.
Thank you so much for checking out my design for this weeks less is more challenge and I hope you check out some of the other fantastic creations from the other participants!
