Hummingbird in the Serene Scenery

Morning all!  I can’t believe I missed posting back on Monday!  It was Thanksgiving and all and I thought it would be nice to do a post sharing things I’m thankful for and ….. well the day got away on me and Wednesday’s post was already written ahead of time, so here I am at Friday already! Insane!  I can’t believe how busy this week was and I’ll be honest, I’m looking forward to the weekend.  I’m sure Karma is as well, so she can spend more time with me.  She has always been a Daddy’s girl but since Madden passed, she has been clinging to me.  The only time of day she gives Chris is when she cries so much that he ends up taking her on his errands with him.  She loves going for a drive but I think more than that, she likes knowing she’s not alone.

So on to my post for today!  I’m a bit torn on this card.  Sometimes I look at it and think, yeah -that’s beautiful and other times, not so much LOL.

The card base is thick Whisper White cardstock which I can’t get enough of. It really is sturdy and I love seeing my cards in my work area and not falling ‘flat on their faces’, like they would with the regular Whisper White cardstock.  I added a piece of the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper which has so many beautiful images that are so ‘real’!  They do make for quick and easy cards.

The hummingbird was left in my ‘scrap’ box of stamped images that I hadn’t used for previous projects.  If I remember correctly, I used Crumb Cake ink and Chocolate Chip ink, along with Island Indigo for the throat.  Can you believe that I only used ONE stamp set for this card?  Often I grab a second set just to get a sentiment that works with the card but I only used Picture Perfect this time around!

I trimmed the cardstock down a bit, sponged around the edges with Old Olive ink, added the sentiment in Archival Basic Black ink and a few Basic Rhinestones to complete the piece.  I then used my Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop this up on my card front.

It’s amazing what a few products can do to pull together a card.  Stampin’ Up! never ceases to amaze me with their ideas, product coordination, colour and image trends…. I could go on but I’m pretty sure it’s evident how I feel about them 🙂

Thanks for popping by. I have lots of work to do this weekend for upcoming classes and parties, so I’m sure I’ll have plenty of inspiration to share with you next week!
