Elegant Birthday

While away at convention I participated in a Team Canada Swap. You may be asking what Team Canada is! We are a group of volunteer demonstrators working on a variety of projects to make being a Canadian Demonstrator (and Customer) more rewarding. Those of us on Team Canada that attended Convention were invited to participate in a swap and of course I couldn’t pass up the chance to share ideas with my fellow Canadians.

We split up into several smaller groups so we would not have to create so many cards. Here is the card I created for my group. This card features the fantastic Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack, Pink Pirouette Cardstock and the often forgotten Brushed Silver Cardstock. Are you guilty of passing by the page in the catalogue where the Brushed Silver and Brushed Gold cardstock are listed? If so, check them out on page 156 of the Annual Catalogue, if not, well, still take a moment to look ūüôā

Stamp Sets – Morning Meadow (Hostess Set) ¬† Ink – Jet Black Staz On ¬†Cardstock – Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Brushed Silver, Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack ¬†Accessories – Pink Pirouette 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon, Neutrals Designer Buttons, Linen Thread, Punch Blossom, Big Shot, Delicate Doilies Sizzlit, Fun Flowers BigZ die, Mosaic Embossing Folder, Bone Folder, Glue Dots, SNAIL Adhesive

* To get your edges of the punched and die cut flowers to curl, use your bone folder to burnish the cardstock.  This can be done by starting with your bone folder closer to the centre of your flower and while holding the cardstock between your thumb and the bone folder, pull and gently curl the petal towards you.  Do this to each petal to add dimension.
* Stamping directly on your ribbon is simple and fun.  Rather than creating a separate tag or layer on this card to add a sentiment I simply inked my stamp with Jet Black Staz On ink and stamped directly on my ribbon. You can try this with various types of ribbon to figure out what materials it works best on.
* If you have difficulty with all the tiny die cuts in the Doilies Sizzlit Die, try placing a clear piece of waxed paper between the sizzlit and the cardstock.  This may help provide a cleaner cut of those tiny pieces.

Please feel free to send me a note if you have any questions about today’s card or any other projects shown on my site.

Thanks for popping by.
