Double Window Shaker Card

Lately I have been on a roll with shaker cards, trying out new things (for me) and today’s double window shaker card is one of those “new things”.

I had the ladies create this at my Shaker Card class earlier this month.  I think they were afraid of it at first but really, it is just a lot of layering.  What you do on the outside is pretty much what you do on the inside, except for a second layer of Foam Adhesive Strip – you only need to do this step once.  For instructions on assembling the window/ foam part of the shaker card, please visit the Rose Garden Shaker Card tutorial I posted earlier this month.

I saw a card on Pinterest created by Debbie’s Designs that inspired me to CASE and create this card.  While you do tend to use a lot of Window Sheets for double window cards, they really do make for a WOW card!

The balloons were stamped using the Balloon Celebrations Stamp set and the sentiment inside the card was stamped using the new Marquee Messages stamp set.  Not only did I add balloons to the outside layer and inside layer of the card, but I also added them in the shaker portion of the card between the two Window Sheets.  Have you looked closely at the balloons?  Did you notice they look speckled?  That’s because after I inked them, I spritzed them with a bit of water before stamping them on my card stock.

When the card is closed you may think that the stamped sentiment is just a layer on the other side of the first window sheet but then when you open it up…. Voila!  you realize you have just looked straight on through the card front!

I am so grateful that Stampin’ Up! is a company that encourages us to copy and share our work with others.  While some days we may copy a card precisely as someone else has created it, more often than not we make slight changes to our cards to make them our own.  I love how my final design is similar to Debbie’s and yet different enough to truly make it mine.
