My post title sounds so harsh but it is true. When preparing for Convention I played around with swap ideas until I created one I really liked.
Today’s share is a card that was okay but just not good enough. About the only stipulation for this swap, was that the card had to be 2 layers plus one embellishment or 3+ layers.
I have created several projects with a vintage/ worn look lately so this one was no different. I began by stamping my flower image, from Elements of Style, in Black Staz-On ink onto Very Vanilla card stock. I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to colour the image in, adding highlights in the darker areas with a more bold colour marker.
Next I sponged Crumb Cake ink around the edges. I did the same for the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″ Very Vanilla card base. On a piece of scrap Very Vanilla cardstock I stamped my sentiment, Just For You from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set, in Old Olive ink and punched out using the Curly Label punch. This was also distressed using the sponge technique, folded in half and wrapped around the bottom of the main stamped image.
My main image is layered on Rose Red cardstock, then layered on Very Vanilla, then once again layered on Rose Red and finally this was attached to my distressed card base.
Of course I couldn’t let this card be without some bling, so I added a Basic Rhinestone to make it pop.
So although this is a lovely card I decided to continue on with my creations until I found the perfect one.
Next week I’ll share with you the design I did come up with and also the final card that I created based on some loving suggestions from my better half.
