Chicken in the Barnyard

What a challenge creating projects with different themes/ images using the new Swirly Birds stamp set from the 2016-2017 Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalogue.  Featuring the new Emerald Envy 2016-2018 In Colour and the Swirly Birds stamp set, I created this cute 5 x 5 chicken card!

The chickens body is stamped with Crumb Cake Ink, the comb was stamped with Real Red ink and the eye and feet were stamped with Basic Black Archival ink. I stamped the wing on a scrap piece of Whisper White, hand cut it and popped it up.  The grass was stamped using one of the ‘feet’ images in Emerald Envy ink.  For some sparkle, I added a few sequins from the Silver Sequin Trim.  Since most people like texture, I also embossed the card front using the Softly Falling TIEF.

The sentiment is stamped using the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set in Basic Black Archival ink on Whisper White and punched out using the 1-1/4″ circle punch and layered on a piece of Real Red cardstock punched out using the soon to be retired 1 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch.  This punch is available until June 1st or while supplies last (whichever comes first).

My main stamped image is layered on Crumb Cake cardstock and then added to the Emerald Envy card base.

This card is perfect for a child’s birthday, especially one who loves chickens or is a little farm boy/ girl.

Have you been enjoying the projects I have been sharing so far featuring the Swirly Birds stamp set? I’d love to hear your comments.
