Hello! I hope everyone had a good weekend. I attended a retirement party for an long time acquaintance who has incurable brain cancer. How do you say Happy Retirement when the reason for it is not a pleasant one.
Creating a beautiful card was the easy part for me, it was knowing what sentiment to stamp that was the struggle. You want the day to be a happy one but also to acknowledge that it isn’t based on sunshine and roses. After a bit of a struggle I decided the best sentiment I could make for the occasion was “Celebrate Life”. It is so precious and each day is a blessing. To celebrate each day of life is so important.
You may be wondering what stamp set I used. Well it is a combination. The word celebrate is from a new set that will be available in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue called Tabs for Everything, while the word “life” was stamped letter by letter, using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set.
The card base is Whisper White 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, while the patterned paper layer is 4″ x 5 1/4″ cut from Pop of Pink designer series paper. Now this is where I realize I should have written the dimensions down because I recall the Whisper White top layer is 4 1/4″ long but I can’t quite remember the width. I believe it is somewhere around 2 1/2 – 2 3/4 but don’t quote me on that!
I used the stamp set Swirly Bird to stamp my leaves and flowers in Melon Mambo and Cucumber Crush inks. I stamped off for the leaves so they weren’t so bold. I also used the Swirly Scribbles Thinlit Dies to cut the leaves but also to cut the swirl from Basic Black cardstock. I did trim the swirl down slightly so it would fit on my cardfront. It is attached to the stamped white layer with SNAIL adhesive and the stamped white layer is popped up on my card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
You’ll also see that I stamped a Melon Mambo flower on a scrap piece of Whisper White, fussy cut it and popped it up over the other stamped flowers.
Now, you may have noticed I added Basic Pearls (retiring and already sold out) and while they are so pretty on the card, I do wish I hadn’t used the largest size. I tried to take it off but the adhesive on the back of it was beginning to rip the cardstock, so it remained as is!
Oh, I almost forgot to say that the Pop of Pink Designer Series Paper is retiring and is also discounted right now, as well the Swirly Bird Bundle is retiring and will not be available at the discount in the new catalogue!
