Thumping Thursday – Lemon Lime Twist Floral (Video included)

It's Thursday and that means it is time for Thumping Thursday.   Today's quick and easy card features the new 2017-2019 In-Colour - Lemon Lime Twist, as well as the soon to be available stamp set - Wood Words! I must admit I am drawn to this bold new colour and it looks fantastic when paired with Basic Black!  I also created a video tutorial to make this card so be sure to scroll to the bottom of this post for the video link! I used a piece of Whisper White Cardstock measuring 4" x 5-1/4" for both the inside and the outside of the card.  I stamped the large floral image from the new set Wood Words in Lemon Lime Twist ink all around the outside edges of my card front. Next I stamped my sentiment in Archival Basic Black ink on scrap Whisper White and die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies (in the video I did the opposite. I die cut the paper before hand, then stamped) I also die cut a larger oval from the Stitched Shapes dies from Lemon Lime Twist so the sentiment would really stand out!  While the Lemon Lime Twist die cut oval is adhered with SNAIL directly to the card front, the stamped sentiment is popped up over this using Stampin' Dimensionals. You'll notice I carried the floral theme to the inside of the card as well, stamping only in the top right and bottom left to allow room to write a greeting. As promised I created a video to show you how to make this card.  Check it out here!   You can re-create this card easily in any of the In-Colours (or any of our great colours) and have hello, thank you, birthday, etc cards on hand and ready to go in a flash!

Book Card Tutorial

Well I just realized that while I thought I posted a video tutorial here on my blog a while back, I hadn't! A couple months ago I shared a book card created using the Beautiful You Stamp set, which also featured some watercolouring.  As I had been asked how to make it in more detail, I created a video to provide a visual aid! Without further ado - here is that video tutorial I created 🙂 I am definitely a visual/ hands on person, so having images and videos to go by certainly help me and I hope this video and these pics help you as well! For this video I used the Lift Me Up Bundle (you can still purchase the bundle and save 10% but only until May 31st - visit my on-line store to order yours before it's too late).  I also used the now retired Sale-A-Bration designer series paper, Carried Away! Here are some still shots of the card: What stamp set would you use to create a book card?  Leave me a comment <3

PAPER PUMPKIN

Tomorrow is the last day to subscribe to the May Paper Pumpkin Kit!  Stampin' Up! has been dropping clues since last week as to what it is!  We know it's cards, and some of the clues have been round, hole, you'll want a coffee...  many are thinking donuts!  We will have to wait and see but remember if you want this months kit, be sure to subscribe or re-activate your Paper Pumpkin account!  Oh! And Stampin' Up! is revealing a new Paper Pumpkin logo! This will be on all the new boxes starting in June.  The above image is a partial peek at some of the changes 😉 Now we just have  few weeks left of the current catalogue and that means time is running out to purchase retiring products!  Check out this video on the Vertical Garden Project Kit! Just think - you could use the contents of this kit to make cards or scrapbook pages, or other home décor projects!  The possibilities are plentiful - just like the flowers in this kit 🙂

Up and Away Adventures

I'm sad that Sale-A-Bartion (SAB) is already over but all good things must come to an end.... so the saying goes. Needless to say, I am not going to allow that to stop me from sharing projects made with Sale-a-Bration items. For instance, while today's card used the exclusive Carried Away Designer Series Paper that had been an option for SAB, the stamp set featured is the Lift Me Up stamp set and Up and Away Framelits (currently available in a bundle in the Occasions catalogue for 10% off). I decided to make the hot air balloon bold by die cutting it from Basic Black cardstock. Against the lighter card base and the colourful designer paper, it really stands out! I added a strip of Whisper White cardstock to the cardfront as well and randomly stamped clouds in Smoky Slate cardstock.  The card is competed with a banner made from Watermelon Wonder cardstock and the ends trimmed into a banner shape. The sentiment was stamped using Archival Basic Black ink. How easy was that to make?  Designer paper can certainly take up a lot of the work for you with the fun patterns available! Now I don't know if you recall but a few weeks ago I shared with you a Book Card.  Well  I finally had a chance to make a tutorial on how to make it.  Here you go! I hope you have creating your  own book card.

Stampin’ Basics 101 – Adhesives

I promised I had another Stampin' Basics 101 video for you and have finally had a chance to edit it and get it published. Hop on over to my you tube channel Stamp Haven and check it out. This video focuses on all the adhesives available in the current 2016-2017 Annual Stampin' Up! Catalogue.  Hopefully it will provide you with some information on these items that you may not have been aware of! Do you have any suggestions for me for other Stampin' Basics 101 videos that you would like me to create? Leave me a comment! MargaretdeWittHavenSignature1

Stampin’ Basics 101 – Sponges

I have been stamping for 13 years and I am the first to admit that I forget not everyone is familiar with all the products and how they work.  Don't get me wrong, I am constantly learning new and sometimes simple things but that doesn't excuse me from ensuring novice stampers understand basic elements of stamping.  I remember demonstrating a workshop for a group of women, where the hostess was a former demo, and collecting my belongings at the end of the night only to find nearly all my SNAIL adhesives in the garbage.  I ignorantly assumed that these women knew that you keep the cartridge and simply buy the refill for them.  I was completely surprised me when they said they didn't know this! I learned then that I need to make a more conscious effort to go over the basics with my stampers, something I need to remind myself of on a regular basis. That moment has always stuck in my mind and I decided that it is time that I attempt to create a video line focusing on Stampin' Basics. Here is a link to my very first Stampin' Basics 101 video. I have another one created that I need to edit and plan to release in the next couple weeks for adhesives. Is there any topic that you would like to see me cover in my Stampin' Basics 101 videos? Please let me know!   MargaretdeWittHavenSignature

Bookmark Magnets – Video Tutorial

Hello Tuesday and warm weather!  After some cold days last week starting at 0°C, heading out at 6:30am this morning it was nice to see 19°C on my thermometer!  Fall is in full swing, our trees are changing colour and dropping leaves fast, which is a sign that winter is not far off now 🙁  Don't get me wrong, I love and appreciate all four seasons but two things I'm not fond of with winter are the dark mornings and nights when I leave for and return from work and the bitter cold/ winds that come. bookmark-2 Since we are on the topic of winter now, lets have a look at a video I recently posted to my YouTube channel.  It focuses on creating Magnetic Bookmarks using the Cookie Cutter Christmas bundle.  Now keep in mind that this can be done with any set throughout the year that features a coordinating punch, and while I haven't tired it yet, I imagine it would work with coordinating dies/ framelits as well (I wouldn't try with thinlits/ detailed dies, that may be asking for trouble) The video takes you through the basics of creating these sweet gifts. If you have book lovers in your life, I am sure they would appreciate some of these sweet bookmarks in their stocking this Christmas.  You could make one for each season 😉 bookmark-3 Some easy stamping, colouring, punching and gluing and you are good to go! Ghoulish Treats! – Video Tutorial

I promised last week that I would share a treat box I had created to hold some fun treats, such as chocolate eyeballs, candy corn and spooky pumpkin face chocolates. treat-boxes-2 I created a video to help re-create this fun and easy box. Here are a couple close ups of the completed boxes. treat-boxes-4 Are you loving the Ghoulish Grunge backgrounds?  I held off ordering these for awhile but finally broke down and got them.  I just know that I'll be using it for more than just Halloween projects. treat-boxes-3 I have a small confession to make.  I don't normally eat any of the treats I buy to create projects like this but after realizing that some of the chocolate eyeballs are fudge inside and others are caramel, I couldn't resist eating a few....! treat-boxes Hopefully you found the instructions easy to follow.  I created this video with Madden laying in the room behind me Sunday afternoon as he enjoyed, what I would later realize was, the last few hours of quality time with me before the Lord took him to His heavenly home.  I am grateful for that time with him.  He was so quiet and well behaved, I needn't have worried about him barking while I shot the video, as was my concern originally! What ideas are coming to your mind after seeing this project? MargaretdeWittHavenSignature

Jar of Haunts – Pumpkin and Eyeball treats!

A little update on Madden.  He appears to be doing quite well.  He has an appetite like you wouldn't believe but I guess I can't blame him, considering he ate two meals in 5 1/2 days!  Something that I seem to be noticing, is that he has a desire to spend all his time outside and just enjoy nature and the other, is a stubborn streak.  Karma (our female Great Dane) is quite a bossy/ pushy little thing and likes to take Madden's bed when he gets off it for any reason.  Normally when she does this, Madden will  just go and lay on her bed. Well.....!   Since he came home Friday night, I have noticed that if she takes his bed, he will stand beside it until she gets off or we get her off for him!  I guess he has decided that he has earned his right to have what's his in life and he's not going to back down anymore! LOL It is quite amusing to say the least! So I have been working on some new videos to share projects and tips with you and I created some cute treat bags featuring the Jar of Haunts stamp set. pumpkin-treat-1 If you are looking to create some treats to hand out at Halloween or for your kids to give fellow classmates, these are quick and easy!  I made ones with pumpkin chocolates to match the pumpkin jars and I made some with eyeball chocolates to match the eyeballs in a jar. eyeball-treat-1 treat packaging to share featuring the Jar of Haunts and Ghoulish Grunge later on! Check out my video for more information on making some creepy and cute treats! MargaretdeWittHavenSignature
