Thumping Thursday – A Note For You!

If you have fallen in love with the Wood Textures DSP and the Wood Crate Framelit, then chances are you are familiar with the scrap piece of designer series paper you have after die cutting.  Put those scraps to good use! Here is a quick and easy card using the Note Cards and Envelopes that you can whip up using most of that leftover.
  • Cut the leftover Wood Textures DSP into 1-3/8" x 5" strips (you should get two pieces if you are sparing with your DSP when cutting the crate from the 6' x 6")
  • Cut a piece of 1-5/8" x 5" Powder Pink cardstock
  • Adhere the DSP to the Powder Pink cardstock using SNAIL Adhesive
  • Stamp the heart image from Wood Words on Whisper White cardstock in Powder Pink ink
  • Die cut the heart using the Wood Crate Framelits
  • Stamp the floral image from Word Words in Powder Pink ink on the top left of your 3 1/2" x 5" Note Card
  • Attach your patterned DSP panel to your Note Card using SNAIL Adhesive
  • Ink your word stamp 'A Note For You' in Archival Basic Black ink and stamp above the patterned DSP panel.
  • Using a Stampin' Dimensional, pop up the die cut heart on your card front
A very quick and easy card that can be used for a variety of occasions and a great way to use your patterned paper scraps!

Thumping Thursday – Marbled Card

Have you ever played with Glossy Paper, Shaving Cream and Ink? So fun, so easy and to be honest, a bit messy 🙂 Once you get rolling though, the cards are quick and easy to make.  Never made a marbled card using shaving cream and re-inkers?
  • Use wax paper, or a cheap non-porous plastic plate that you can use for your crafting
  • Shake your shaving cream well (Barbosal - original works great) and spread a nice layer over your was sheet or plastic plate
  • Add drops of different colour re-inkers over the shaving cream
  • Use a butter knife or cake spreader and gently mix the re-inkers into the shaving cream. (depending on how you mix will determine how it appears on your card)
  • Smoosh the glossy side of your Glossy Cardstock into the shaving cream and peel back out.
  • I lay this flat, face up on a paper towel and use the flat edge of my cake spreader to scrape the excess shaving cream off the cardstock
  • Set aside to 'dry'
You will be left with a beautiful background.  Play with the colour combinations, play with how you mix it in and see what marble designs emerge on your Glossy Cardstock! I typically create a 4" x 5 1/4" marbled background piece and if I need a smaller piece, I just trim the larger piece down to the size I need. This is what I did for today's card. I had done this for a 3 x 3 card and the leftover piece was a bit smaller than I wanted for another 3 x 3 card which is how today's card was created.
  • The card base was created by cutting a piece of 3" x 6" Island Indigo cardstock, score at 3" and fold in half.
  • The leftover piece of marbled design was trimmed on the longer edge to 2-3/4", the width was left as is.
  • I stamped "Time to Party" in Archival Basic Black ink, using the set Confetti Celebration on my marbled design
  • To make up the excess space on the width, I cheated and used some Washi Tape from the April Paper Pumpkin Kit
  • I used SNAIL Adhesive on the back of the Glossy Cardstock, however it is a thicker cardstock so Tear and Tape would hold better.
  • Re-inkers used for this cards marble design - Archival Basic Black,  Bermuda Bay and Night of Navy
Are you a visual person? Would you like me to make a video showing this technique?

Thumping Thursday – Wood Pile

Today is a special day.....!  The new catalogue goes live today!  Check back after 2pm to start browsing the catalogue!  You will not be disappointed 🙂 Asides from the release of the new catalogue, today is also Thumping Thursday.  This means it is quick and easy card time!
I selected the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack that will be available to begin ordering later today!  There are so many wood themed patterns and with wood and crates being so trendy right now as well, your projects are sure to be a hit when incorporating them in your designs.
  • Cut a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and score at 4 1/4" long the length.  Fold in half.
  • Cut a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock at 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Select the Wood Textures Designer Series paper with the logs on it and fussy cut a portion to attach to the bottom of your 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Crumb Cake
  • Adhere to the Crumb Cake layer using SNAIL Adhesive
  • Using your Paper Snips, trim off excess hanging off edge.
  • Stamp your sentiment from the new set Wood Words on the top right of your card in Chocolate Chip ink.
  • Lightly sponge Soft Suede ink around the edges of your card front.
  • Apply Stampin' Dimensionals to the back of your card front  and attach to your card base.
These colours and the wood theme paper make this a great masculine card.   It can be easy to forget to send cards to the men in our lives who help us out. Whether they will admit it or not, chances are they will appreciate a hand stamped card.
That's it for this weeks Thumping Thursday. I'll see you here again tomorrow!

Thumping Thursday – A Colourful Work of Art

Thumping Thursday came around so quick I nearly forgot to create a card for it.  I was in my stamp room ready to wrap up what I was working on(at 10:30pm no less) when I realized I still had to create a super quick card. Sometimes I do well under pressure. I spun around, looked at my stamp sets and when I saw Work of Art, my card instantly formulated in my mind.   I used the new In-Colours to pull this card together. Have you seen the new Glitter Enamel Dots?  They look so yummy .... just don't try to eat them. Here is the breakdown on todays thumping card:
  • Cut your Fresh Fig cardstock at 4 x 1/4 x 11" and score at 5 1/2", fold in half.
  • Cut two pieces of Whisper White cardstock at 4" x 5 1/4"
  • On one piece of White cardstock, stamp your Work of Art mid-sized 'water brush' image in Powder Pink ink along the top left, followed next by Berry Burst below that and finish it with Fresh Fig at the bottom.  Remember to clean your stamp between colour changes so you don't transfer ink to your other ink pads and ruin them.
  • Ink up your sentiment in Archival Basic Black ink and stamp along the bottom right.
  • Add three Glitter Enamel Dots randomly on your card front.
  • Adhere your stamped layer to your card base using SNAIL adhesive
  • On your second piece of Whisper White cardstock, ink up your smallest 'water brush' image in Powder Pink ink and stamp near the bottom right.  This is a fun way to highlight your signature.
  • Attach this to the inside of your card using SNAIL adhesive
This card took less than 5 minutes once I had my supplies all gathered.  I think I still made it to out of my stamp room before 10:45! Do you have a favourite new In-Colour?
