Memory Monday – Owl Punch Flowers

I love when a product has more than one use.  While the retired Owl Punch was clearly designed to punch out and create cute little owls, it also made fantastic flowers! I created a beautiful flower planter with these flowers.  It is a bit difficult to see but I also spritzed some sparkle and  shimmer to the petals to make them stand out, as though they still have some morning dew on them.

By punching the owls body, trimming off the feet, adding a small cut halfway between the ears and overlapping the cut to create a flap/ fold (Multipurpose Glue works well to glue the fold), and then using a bone folder to curl the rounded side of the owl, you now have a flower petal.  Repeat 7 more times and add these to a small punched card stock circle, 5 for the bottom, 3 for the next layer, and you end up with a nice flower in no time.  The centre was created by punching a scallop circle and then cut it into a spiral shape.  With tweezers, wind it up, glue it up and attach it to the centre of the owl petal flower.

If this is something you would like a visual of to see how this is created, please leave me a comment.

Cookie Cutter Shaker Card

Hi All – I seem to be light on the posts lately as I design and create for craft fairs!  Not only do I papercraft but I crochet as well and needless to say between all that, family and a full time job, little is left for anything else!

I created this card quite some time ago and forgot to post it but thankfully we are still well ahead of Christmas!  The shaker part of this card is created just like any other shaker card.  I have a written tutorial for shaker cards and a video tutorial as well that you can check out.

With this card I simply put a couple gingerbread men/ women inside the shaker section and added some white mica flakes that seem to have disappeared from view! LOL

I did stamp the large jar from the Jar of Love stamp set, using Jet Black Staz On ink on the window sheet.  I also stamped a lid in Old Olive and die cut. What is a cookie jar without a gingerbread lady trying to jump out!

I wanted the focus to be the gingerbreads in the jar, so I kept the rest of the card very simple, with the sentiment stamped in Old Olive near the top and a simple strip of Candy Cane Lane Washi Tape along the bottom.  The Whisper White card front sits on a Real Red base (5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4″)

I think this stamp set and punch are wishing they had a break from me!  Talk about being well loved 🙂
