Valentine’s Day is not too far off now! These little occasions seem to sneak up on us quickly and while we think about those close to us and near and dear, we often forget that there are many people who are alone, who have no family, or who have family that does not visit with them. Likely the largest population of these people… are seniors.
This year a wonderful friend, who is also a Thirty One Consultant, has taken it upon herself to run a fundraiser to brighten the day of seniors in a local nursing home. She has extended the fundraiser to Friday January 22nd in hopes of still reaching her goal of selling 31 pouches. Details are included in the photo below. Kelly is using the commission she will receive from the sale of these pouches to fill them with goodies for the recipients at the nursing home.
As Kelly had mentioned that it would be nice for these seniors to receive Valentine’s Cards as well from anyone who would like to buy or make any, I thought it would be a great opportunity to help in brightening someone’s day. I’m happy to support Kelly by having sponsored an Oh Snap Pocket, as well as making a batch of Valentine’s cards.
After browsing Pinterest, I took some elements from a card I saw and created my own version of the card with some light modifications. I began my little assembly line last night. So far I have my stamping done and my hearts die cut, but I still have plenty more die cutting to go.
And of course I can’t tease with this, without showing you the final card design!
I hope you’ll take the time to check out Kelly’s Facebook page and consider sponsoring a pouch for a senior today! A small act of kindness that can make the difference in someone’s life!
