It seems lately that several of my friends, family and acquaintances are expecting, or have recently had, a baby. I love that I purchased the set Stampin’ Up! set Moon Baby from the current Occasions Catalogue because it has definitely come in handy lately.
I mentioned not long ago that I like customizing baby cards using the Labeler Alphabet set, as it makes the card so much more personal. Since it is such a simple thing to do, I couldn’t let this card go by without adding that personalization to it as well.
While my last card I posted featuring Moon Baby was on a white background, I decided to do the opposite for todays card and used a black background. My goal was to make it feel like a night sky. I stamped my stars using Versamark ink, applied White Embossing Powder and heat set using the Heat Tool. Then I used my Watercolour Pencils and coloured the stars with the Yellow Pencil. NOTE: Do not use a Blender Pen to smooth out the colour because I learned that yellow on black just “washes” away and disappears!
I stamped the moon and baby image on Watercolour Paper using Archival Black Ink and again coloured using the Watercolour Pencils but blending this time with an Aquapainter. I then fussy cut the image using my Paper Snips and popped up on my card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The ‘sentiment’ was handstamped using the Labeler Alphabet set and Craft White Ink. I confess that I eyeball the position when stamping, one letter at a time!
And bad me, I used retired winter themed designer series paper for my matte! I just thought the colours in the DSP went so well with the baby’s colouring. The top layers were then adhered to my Daffodil Delight card base using SNAIL adhesive.
I love the final result of this card.
Do you have a favourite Stampin’ UP! baby set? If so, what is it?
