The other night I so desparately wanted to stamp and create yet I knew my husband really wanted to “spend time” with me. I put quotes around these words because it’s really about being in the same room as him while he’s watching TV in the evening. He enjoys my company even if we’re not actually being productive. Since I’m not a big on watching TV it kills me to sit idle. So I compromised! I gathered up some stampin’ products and sat at the coffee table in the living room to craft. Let’s just say that I’m pretty sure I get a bit of a workout with all the stairs I climb because I forgot a stamp block, oh wait I need this colour ink, this card isn’t complete without the right embellishment. Does anyone else face these struggles of balance between work, home and craft life?
Having a basic idea in mind of what I would like to create does help in selecting the best products to pull from the stamp room, so I was grateful that I had already envisioned parts of this card. The balance fell into place when I decided to grab my “spare/scraps” container. I recently started this container where I put any pre-stamped images or die cuts or leftover Paper Pumpkin products that I haven’t used on previous creations.
Since I couldn’t decide which design to complete my card with,
I ended up making two similar cards to use up my “scraps” that I had selected.
This first card features some stamped flowers from the Flower Patch stamp set and die cut using the Flower Fair Framelits. The star of this card however is the Affectionately Yours Designer Series Specialty Paper. Copper is such a hot ‘colour’ right now and this paper is so rich with the copper flowers embossed on it. Layered on Watermelon Wonder cardstock, it makes a great statement!
The sentiments used for both of todays cards are from the set Picture Perfect. They are simple, yet beautiful sentiments!
For my second card, I used a spare die cut rose from the Rose Garden Thinlits. The black pops off the card with the copper embossing in behind.
I needed a simple embellishment for these cards and the little Bow Paper Clip Embellishments that are available in the new catalogue were the perfect touch since they are coppery looking as well!
That’s it for me today! I’ll be back to share more inspiration with you later on.
