Several weeks ago the girls, Chris and I drafted a letter and dropped it off in all our neighbours mailboxes seeking donations to aid the victims of the tornado that devastated Goderich in August. We ourselves experienced a similar devastation when a tornado went through our neighbourhood in 2005. We were fortunate enough that we did not lose all of our possessions and most of us still had structurally sound homes. I sent a letter out to my stamping customers as well and the response from our neighbours and my stamping clients was immense.
In a matter of two days before our delivery date we ended up with so many donations that we had to rent a Uhaul trailer. We felt so blessed that we live in a community that cares so much for others.
We simply had to say thank you to all who showed support and so I created this beautiful card.
The card base is created from the new In Colour – Pool Party, while the first layer is Soft Suede.
The top layers of the card were made from Very Vanilla and Spice Cake Designer Series Paper. I stamped images randomly on the Very Vanilla cardstock using the stunning fall set, Gently Falling. The solid images are stamped using More Mustard, Old Olive and Pool Party. I also stamped an additional leaf and cut the image out, adding Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back and popping up on the card front.
The sentiment, A Note of Thanks, was stamped from the set Thank You Kindly.
What a wonderful community I live in and what better way to say thank you – with a handstamped card from the heart.
